about

This song is about political predation I started to see, beginning in the US, around 2000. It got far worse, in my estimation, around 2010. It's a song I had bouncing around in my cluttered mind for years, but never actually sat down and flushed out until 2010. Or so? I dunno. The final lines "don't place blind faith in black snake politicians" is an overt reference to fossil fuel corporations, their corrupt relationships with politicians in the US and abroad, and corporate capture of the US government. I got the idea from the indigenous legend "Prophesy of the black snake." Pipelines and oil trains, the visible signs as literal power is amassed and America literally divided. Americans, literally divided. Political power isn't as easy to see, but t's just as destructive. More so.

lyrics

at any cost

they will prey upon your sympathy
they will tear our bands apart
and they will break your back, your will, your brain
so they can take whatever they can gain

they'll see you dead to keep in power
you're just opposition to devour
why are you loyal to the cowards?
sweet liberty turned bitter, sour

is that the cost? (x3)
is that too high?
too high now

it doesn't matter much what happened here today
cause if it don't make the cover page...
they want you to forget the things they did and said
so they can do it all again another day

when blood is spilled for their desire
and they have all that they require
they'll tell you "freedom's cost" is higher
take honest words back from the liars

is that the cost? (x3)
is that too high?
too high now

don't place blind faith in black snake politicians
they'll make you so afraid, can't even pay, pay attention

about

splat Oregon

"Splat - off the windscreen" is my first solo effort, written and recorded in 2010. I took some time off for health reasons but I'm back now. I consider this work important to my story so I publised it and created limited physical media.
Anyway, thanks for listening. =j
